Webinar: Feminist Peace: Academic Collaborations & Resistances on Gender Backlash

The 3rd Webinar in the series will explore gender justice and how knowledge production sites have become contestation areas.

We are glad to announce that the third session of the PEACE Webinar Series will take place on 10 March at 12:00 (CET).

This webinar will provide a thematic discussion on Academic Collaboration and Resistance on Gender Backlash. The session will explore the growing attacks on gender justice across political systems and institutional contexts, examining how universities and knowledge production have become key sites of contestation. It will address antifeminism in both authoritarian and liberal settings, the targeting of women’s and LGBTQ rights, and the role of academic collaboration in resisting backlash and strengthening solidarities across movements.

The webinar will feature the following speakers:

  • Jamie J. Hagen – Lecturer in Global Politics at the University of Manchester. Her work sits at the intersection of gender, security studies, and queer theory, bringing a
queer feminist and anti-racist approach to bridging academia, policy, and activism.
  • Victoria Scheyer – Associate Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt and lecturer at Monash University. Her research focuses on antifeminism, the gender politics of the far right, and feminist resistance to backlash. She is co-founder of the collective Dear White Feminists.

The session will be moderated by Zahra Edalati – Doctoral Researcher at the Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI). The speakers will engage in a Q&A session, reflecting on the intersections of academia, gender justice, and resistance to backlash.
